The Marina Bay Sands light show is called Spectra Light and Water Show. It runs outdoors at the Event Plaza, lasts 15 minutes and costs nothing. You do not need a ticket or a reservation, and the show is open to everyone who stands on the plaza.
There are two shows on most nights. On Fridays and Saturdays a third one is added. Because the shows are short and fixed, the easiest plan is to pick one time and arrive a little early to find a spot.
Where to watch the light show
The Event Plaza is the venue for Spectra. It is the place to stand if you want to see the show the way it is staged.
The plaza sits at the water's edge in front of the hotel towers. It is open air, so there is no seating included. Friday and Saturday evenings are the busiest.
If you prefer a table, some restaurants with outdoor seating overlook the show area. Restaurants have their own booking and menu terms, so ask before you plan around a seat.
The show is staged for the plaza. From other spots along the waterfront the view of the building differs, and picture and sound can differ too, so treat those as a second option.

Light show or river cruise?
Both are evening activities on the same bay, but they are different things.
Spectra is free, short and happens on land. A boat gives you the skyline from the water. A river cruise operator runs a laser show cruise that leaves from Clarke Quay Jetty only. Garden Rhapsody is free in general. Ticketed events in the Grove, such as the Christmas Wonderland programme, can charge admission. The Christmas programme runs from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. For most visitors, Spectra is the simpler plan: one place, fixed times, no ticket. Add Garden Rhapsody on a second evening, together with a walk through the Gardens by the Bay.

Good to know before the show
- The show is outdoors. Check the current timetable on the day, because special programmes can replace the regular show on some dates.
- Bring water and sun protection if you arrive early. It is warm and humid even after dark.
- Spectra has no booking step. Paid restaurants and bars have their own conditions.
